How it works
The countdown is derived from the end timestamp, so refreshing or reopening the page continues where you left off. When a phase ends a dialog appears and you decide when to take a break; phases no longer switch automatically. Daily stats cover sessions, focus minutes and the longest run, all stored in this browser.

Online Pomodoro Focus Timer for Study and Break Scheduling

Online Pomodoro Timer

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method that divides study or work into focused sessions and breaks. A common setup is 25 minutes of focus followed by a 5-minute break, with a longer break after four consecutive focus sessions. An online Pomodoro timer lets you track these sessions directly in your browser without installing software.

How should I schedule 25 minutes of focus and 5 minutes of rest?

With the default settings, each focus session lasts 25 minutes, followed by a 5-minute short break. After four consecutive focus sessions, the next break becomes a 15-minute long break. This rhythm works well for breaking reading, vocabulary practice, exercises, writing, programming, and similar tasks into smaller focused units.

How long should a Pomodoro session be for studying?

Twenty-five minutes is a common default, but every task does not require the same setting. When starting focus training, you can use 15 to 20 minutes. After you can maintain attention steadily, you can gradually increase the duration to 25 or 30 minutes. Reading, writing, or deep work may benefit from longer sessions of 45 to 50 minutes, with appropriately longer breaks.

How can I use a Pomodoro Timer to plan a day of studying?

First divide your study goals into specific tasks, then assign a number of focus sessions to each task. For example, schedule two Pomodoros for vocabulary practice, three for exercises, and two for writing. Taking a short break after each session makes it easier to track how much focused time you actually completed than simply setting a total number of study hours.

What study situations is a Pomodoro Timer suitable for?

A Pomodoro Timer can be used for exam preparation, language learning, reading, writing, programming, online courses, and everyday office work. When you need to keep a task focused, enter the study activity as the current task. The page displays the task name during the session to help maintain a clear focus.

How do pause, resume, and skip work?

Pause the timer when you need to step away temporarily, then resume when you return. Use reset to restart the current session. If the current focus or break session does not need to be completed, use skip to move to the next stage. Keyboard shortcuts are also supported to reduce mouse use while timing.

What happens when a Pomodoro session ends?

When a session ends, the page displays a completion notice and, when sound alerts are enabled, plays a notification sound generated by the browser in real time. Each completed focus session increases the day's Pomodoro count and focused time. Consecutive completed sessions are also tracked as the current streak.

Will the timer be lost if I refresh the page?

The Pomodoro Timer saves the current timer state locally in the browser. If you refresh or reopen the page while the saved end time is still valid, the current session can continue. Completed sessions are processed when the timer is restored. An unfinished focus session is not counted as a completed Pomodoro.

Where is Pomodoro data stored?

Timer settings, the current task, timer state, and related statistics are stored in the current browser's local storage. No account is required, and study tasks or timer records are not uploaded to a server. Clearing local data removes these browser-stored records.

How can I combine the Pomodoro Timer with a study plan?

If you already know how much time you need to study each day, use the Study Time Calculator to estimate the number of study days needed to reach your goal, then divide each day's time into multiple Pomodoro sessions. For exam preparation based on a specific date, combine it with the Exam Countdown. For spaced review, use the Ebbinghaus Memory Planner.

How should I use a Pomodoro Timer for studying?

An online Pomodoro Timer divides study time into focused sessions and breaks. The default is 25 minutes of focus and a 5-minute short break, followed by a 15-minute long break after every four focus sessions. Durations can be customized for different tasks.

  • Default 25-minute focus, 5-minute short break, and 15-minute long break, with customizable focus and break durations
  • Enter a long break after every 4 focus sessions to organize study and work with a consistent rhythm
  • Support pause, resume, reset, and skip, with direct switching between focus, short break, and long break modes
  • Enter the current task while timing, with the remaining time shown in the page title for easy tab switching
  • Play a browser-generated notification sound when a session ends and track completed sessions and focused time for the day
  • Save timer state, tasks, and statistics locally in the browser without requiring an account or uploading data
Use the Study Time Calculator to determine how much time you need to study each day, then divide it into Pomodoro sessions. For exam preparation, combine it with the Exam Countdown and Ebbinghaus Memory Planner.
