How it works
The rating decides the next review date: "Not yet" brings the card back tomorrow, "Fuzzy" keeps the current level, "Remembered" moves one level up and follows the 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 day intervals. The top of the page switches between new cards, due cards, all cards and missed cards. Shortcuts: Space flips, 1 not yet, 2 fuzzy, 3 remembered.

Online Flashcards for Creating and Reviewing Study Cards

Flashcard Study Tool

What is flashcard learning?

Flashcards are a learning method that divides knowledge into a question or prompt on the front and an answer on the back. The front can contain an English word, concept, question, or hint, while the back can contain a definition, answer, or additional explanation. During practice, try to recall the answer from the front before flipping the card to check the back. This makes it easier to identify knowledge you have not fully mastered.

How to create study cards

Enter the front and back of a card in the deck management area and click Add to create a flashcard. When creating many cards, you can paste multiple lines at once, using a vertical bar to separate the front and back, such as “apple|apple in Chinese”. You can also import a TXT file directly, which is useful for organizing vocabulary lists, terminology, and course notes.

Four study modes

The tool provides four modes: New Cards, Today's Review, All Cards, and Review Incorrect. New Cards are used for content that has not been reviewed yet. Today's Review handles cards that are due for review. All Cards lets you browse the entire deck, while Review Incorrect focuses on cards with lower mastery.

Know, Unsure, and Don't Know

After revealing the answer, choose Know, Unsure, or Don't Know based on your actual level of mastery. Cards marked Know leave the current practice round. Unsure cards appear again later, while Don't Know cards return to the end of the current queue for another attempt. The tool also records review counts, correct and incorrect attempts, memory level, and the next review time for future practice.

Keyboard shortcuts for faster review

On desktop devices, press Space to flip the current card. Number keys 1, 2, and 3 correspond to Don't Know, Unsure, and Know. Left and right arrow keys can also be used for quick ratings. On phones and tablets, simply tap the card to flip it and then tap the rating button.

Import, export, and manage decks

Decks support adding, editing, copying, and deleting cards individually, as well as bulk pasting and TXT import. When random order is enabled, the current practice queue can be shuffled. The export function saves the deck as a TXT file, with one card per line containing its front and back, making it easy to back up or migrate your cards.

Where is study data stored?

Flashcards, review counts, and memory status are stored in the current browser's local storage. No account is required, and card content is not uploaded to a server. Saved cards and review status remain available after refreshing the page. The current practice queue itself is not saved as progress; when you reopen the page, a new queue is created according to the selected mode.

How to organize a flashcard deck

When you have many cards, organize them by course, chapter, subject, or knowledge topic. Try to put only one recallable concept on each card. Keep the front concise and provide an accurate answer or necessary explanation on the back. This makes the cards easier to review quickly and continuously.

How do you use the flashcard study tool?

Create study cards with a front and back. During practice, recall the front content before flipping the card to check the answer, then choose Know, Unsure, or Don't Know based on your mastery. The tool uses your ratings to manage cards in the current round and saves review counts and future memory status.

  • Create front-and-back study cards and flip cards to reveal answers
  • Four study modes: New Cards, Today's Review, All Cards, and Review Incorrect
  • Rate cards as Know, Unsure, or Don't Know to record your current mastery
  • Don't Know cards return to the end of the current queue, while Unsure cards reappear later
  • Add, edit, copy, and delete cards individually, or use bulk paste and TXT import and export
  • Card content, review counts, and memory status are stored locally in the browser and are not uploaded
Use bulk import to quickly create a vocabulary or knowledge deck, then use Today's Review and Review Incorrect to focus on content that needs more practice. You can also combine flashcards with a Pomodoro timer to plan your daily study sessions.
