Sometimes you need the sound from a video rather than the picture: narration from a screen recording, meeting audio, course content, or a live music clip. This tool opens a local video in your browser, extracts its audio track, and exports it as an MP3 without installing software or uploading the video.
First, drag a video into the upload area or select one from your device. The page reads the video information and locally detects the source audio codec, sample rate, channels, and bitrate, which are displayed in the Source Audio section. Second, choose a bitrate. You can select a fixed bitrate from 64 to 320 kbps or choose Automatic VBR, which lets the encoder allocate bitrate according to audio quality. Fixed bitrate produces a predictable target size, while automatic VBR does not lock the bitrate to one number. Third, click “Extract MP3”. After processing, you can preview the audio directly in the result card before downloading it.
Bitrate affects file size and the amount of detail retained. 64 kbps is suitable for speech recordings and produces the smallest files. 96 to 128 kbps is a practical balance for speech and ordinary content. 192 kbps is a general-purpose recommendation with good music detail. 256 to 320 kbps is suitable when higher audio quality is preferred. If you are unsure, 192 kbps is a reasonable default. Automatic VBR is another option when you want the encoder to allocate bitrate according to audio quality.
MP3 is a lossy compression format. Re-encoding cannot restore information that was already lost in the source audio. If the audio in the original video is only 128 kbps, exporting it at 320 kbps will not make it clearer; it only makes the file larger. The tool therefore reads the source bitrate first. When the selected target bitrate is higher than the source bitrate, it is marked as being above the source quality so that a higher number is not mistaken for better sound.
The extraction process preserves the source sample rate and channel configuration instead of forcing stereo output or changing the sample rate. The result card also shows the actual average encoded bitrate, calculated from the output file size and video duration, together with the file size so you can verify the result.

This tool does not use server-side transcoding. The video is read locally through the browser file interface, processing runs inside the browser’s WebAssembly environment, and the exported MP3 is generated locally. When the page is closed or refreshed, the file reference is released. Neither the video nor the audio is uploaded or stored on the server, and no registration or login is required.
