This tool extracts the main colors from an image. After uploading an image, it automatically analyzes the image, generates a palette sorted by the percentage of the image occupied by each color, and converts each color into common formats such as HEX, RGB, HSL, and CMYK. Color Count and Result Sorting

Choose from 5, 10, or 20 colors: 5 colors are suitable for quickly identifying the dominant palette, 10 colors are suitable for creating a color scheme, and 20 colors are suitable for analyzing images with complex color compositions such as illustrations and gradients. After changing the number of colors, the image is immediately recalculated using the new setting, and results are sorted from highest to lowest percentage. The analysis uses a histogram and median-cut algorithm to merge similar colors into representative colors according to pixel proportions. To balance accuracy and speed, analysis is performed on a scaled-down copy of the image, so even very large images can be processed smoothly.

Color Value Formats

  • HEX: hexadecimal notation, commonly used on the web and in CSS.
  • RGB: red, green, and blue channel values, suitable for most front-end and design tools.
  • HSL: hue, saturation, and lightness, making it convenient to manually adjust brightness and color schemes.
  • CMYK: four-color percentages for print color reference.
  • CSS: an rgb function format that can be pasted directly into CSS.

All formats are converted from the same color in real time to keep the values consistent, so the copied values can be used directly in the corresponding tools. Each color also includes a nearby color name, such as red, blue, or cyan, for quick identification.

Notes That May Affect Results

When an image contains transparent areas, fully transparent pixels are excluded from color statistics, and percentages are calculated based on opaque areas. The page displays a corresponding notice. For animated GIFs, only the first frame is analyzed. When the original image is large, it is scaled down before analysis, and the page indicates the maximum scaled dimension. These processing steps do not affect the color results. These notices help you determine whether the results match your expectations.

Error Handling

Unsupported or non-image files are filtered out with a specific reason. If image decoding fails, an error message is displayed and the status bar also reports the problem instead of leaving an empty result. If the analysis module fails to load, the page prompts you to refresh and retry. All notices are displayed directly on the page for quick troubleshooting.
